AIDA64 now supports the latest AMD and Intel CPU platforms and GPGPU based technologies by AMD and NVIDIA. Press Release: FinalWire Ltd. today announced the immediate availability of AIDA64 Extreme 6.75 software, a streamlined diagnostic and benchmarking tool for home users; the immediate availability of AIDA64 Engineer 6.75 software, a professional diagnostic and benchmarking solution for corporate IT technicians and engineers; the immediate availability of AIDA64 Business 6.75 software, an essential network management solution for small and medium scale enterprises; and the immediate availability of AIDA64 Network Audit 6.75 software, a dedicated network audit toolset to collect and manage corporate network inventories. Support for optimized AVX-512 and AVX2 based benchmarks for the yet to release Zen 4 CPUs and AM5 motherboards has also been introduced.

What is AVX-512 and AVX2?

Back in the old days, processing data was quite simple, instructions could only be performed on one data element at a time. This increased the time needed to process large and complex forms of data. More specifically, this is known as Scalar Processing which was carried over a 32 bit register. This issue called for a faster and efficient system, thus Intel introduced Single Instruction, Multiple Data or SIMD into its processors back in the 1990s. As the name suggests, SIMD enables multiple data type processing providing upto 128 bit registers. Intel AVX and Intel AVX-2 extended these registers to 256 bits. AVX-512 doubles the capacity and width of the registers (512 bits) enabling faster data processing with some other optimisations. In other words, parallelism is introduced with each iteration of SIMD. AVX-512 in our case is merely a benchmark to test the CPU’s performance.
