AMD’s next-generation Ryzen 5000 APUs, codenamed ‘Cezanne’, has again been spotted online. These APUs will be using a mix of both new and refined technologies in the form of ZEN 3 and Vega. The latest leak includes the device ID of the chips, nearly confirming the nature, type, architecture, and performance of the next-gen AMD APUs. Interestingly, whenever the chips will launch, they can be slotted inside the standard and highly-mature AM4 sockets.

AMD Ryzen 5000 ‘Cezanne’ APUs Device ID And Socket Support Revealed:

The AMD Ryzen 5000 Series APUs, belonging to the Cezanne family, will be replacing AMD’s Renoir Ryzen 4000 APU family. AMD and its partner companies have recently launched the AMD Ryzen 4000 APU based laptops. There have been persistent reports that AMD is repurposing the AMD Ryzen 4000 Mobility platform for desktop use, and the same applies to the AMD Ryzen 5000 Series APUs as well.

— 遠坂小町@Komachi (@KOMACHI_ENSAKA) June 22, 2020 The AMD Cezanne APUs will reportedly fall under the 1638 Device ID. There have been at least 13 PCI IDs for the specific family. AMD’s Renoir family uses the 1636 PCI IDs while the custom low-powered Van Gogh line of APUs will use the 163F PCI IDs.

— Areej (@areejs12) June 23, 2020 The Cezanne APUs are still based on the slightly older GFX9 architecture. This means AMD is still refining the Vega GPUs. However, the Ryzen 5000 APUs should feature a brand-new CPU core just like the current generation AMD Ryzen 4000 Renoir mobility APUs but will have an enhanced revision of an existing GPU core. The most assuring information about the as-yet-unannounced AMD Ryzen 5000 APUs for desktop is their compatibility with the AM4 platform. This also means the chips will launch way before 2021. This is because AMD is expected to evolve its CPUs to the AM5 socket around 2022. Incidentally, AMD has indicated that ZEN 3 ‘Vermeer’ desktop chips are launching later this year. And there is still time before the AMD Cezanne APUs arrive. This means AMD could be planning some more CPUs to fill the wide gap.

AMD Cezanne ‘Ryzen 5000’ APUs Specifications And Features:

The AMD Cezanne ‘Ryzen 5000’ APUs are primarily intended for laptops and other mobile computing devices. Just like the current lineup of Ryzen 4000 ‘Renoir’ lineup, these APUs too will be segmented into two types. Those with a slightly higher TDP profile are expected to be tagged as Cezanne-H and will be meant for high-performance laptops which are intended for enthusiasts and gamers. Meanwhile, the Cezanne-U will be intended for office laptops and everyday workstations that prioritize efficiency and battery life.
