Apple’s AirPower
The best thing about AirPower (well theoretically, at least) was that Apple would be able to give you an amazing product. The device would be a flat plate and would be able to charge an Apple Watch, an Airpods case and an iPhone all at once. Now, how these wireless chargers work is unique. There are two coils involved, one in the phone and one on the base plate. When these meet, there is a conduction of energy. What Apple went on to do was add multiple coils to the baseplate. The problem was that these coils interfered with each other. This caused charging malfunction or excessive heat production (wasted energy). Now though, in a tweet from Jon Prosser, we see something more interesting. https://twitter.com/jon_prosser/status/1273612718306668544?s=20 Now, he claims that the main problem for the Airpower was that it has issues with the Apple Watch with it having a proprietary connector. According to Jon who shares a leaked image of the device in action, this is not the case anymore. We can clearly see Airpower in action. With it being powered by a lightning port, we can see it charging an Apple Watch and an Airpods Pro case. There is still room for an additional phone. Perhaps Apple didn’t pull the plug. With the technology moving ahead, we may just see a working model soon. Apple may just announce it with the upcoming iPhone series.
