The article states that a newer version of the emulator is now available: Version 1.17.1. Currently, this version is only available to Patreon supporters but is set to be available to the general audience pretty soon.

The main focus of the update is to bring changes to Vulkan Backend which is responsible for the performance of the emulator. Currently, in version 1.17.0, there were major updates made to the Vulkan Backend but this new update surpasses that. Additionally, it also includes a new GUI, focuses on making improvements to it, of course. Of course, the main goal is to bring stability and to emulate the experience as close to the original console itself.
Considering the fact that people are eager to play games such as Breath of the Wild, not all of them can afford a WiiU or the new Nintendo Switch. Additionally, the Switch Emulators aren’t that advanced yet. Keeping all of that in mind, this may be the only way people can enjoy said titles without actually having to splurge out cash for the console itself.
