As reported by Tech Crunch, Discord users on iOS and Android will be able to screen share for free starting today. The feature is exactly the same as the desktop version, meaning everything visible on the screen during the screen share session will be broadcasted to everyone watching. “Mobile screen sharing lets users capture and broadcast everything on their phone’s display and stream it to a group of friends,” Discord Inc. tells Tech Crunch. “The company tells me they’ve been particularly focused on making it work well when there’s a lot of onscreen motion, allowing for things like game streaming or remote YouTube/TikTok viewing parties with high frame rates and minimal latency.” Mobile screen sharing can be utilized with a maximum of 50 people in a channel, and all users will have the option to share their screens simultaneously. As with most of Discord’s new features, the roll out of mobile screen sharing will be done over time. This means that some users will be able to access it on their iOS and Android devices today, and everyone should have the feature by Thursday night. Over the past few months, Discord has added a lot of new functionalities to compete with online meeting platforms such as Zoom. The introduction of a mobile screen sharing feature will surely boost the application’s popularity even more. The screen sharing feature for Discord mobile will be available for free to all users on both iOS and Android regardless of whether or not they own the premium Nitro subscription service.
