Rumors of GTA V going free originated earlier this week, and needless to say everyone was excited. There were doubts at first, but a tweet from the official Epic Games twitter account earlier today confirmed the news. It seems that the company wanted to keep the game a ‘mystery’, so the tweet was quickly deleted. Grand Theft Auto V is now free to grab for an entire week on the Epic Games Store. That is if you can get past the server issues caused by the high traffic.

Epic put out a statement saying they are aware of the issues, and that a fix is on the way. While GTA V is definitely a game you don’t want to miss out on getting for free, there is no need to worry. Although the game isn’t free for ever, you have a week to claim it from the store. The server issues will most definitely be resolved by then, so just wait a few hours and you will be able to login. Epic Games Store is famous for regularly handing out free games. Popular titles such as Subnautica, Just Cause 4, Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and many others have all been available for free to the store’s users in the past. Grand Theft Auto V, including both the offline campaign and GTA Online multiplayer, are available to claim on Epic Games Store for free until May 21st.
