You will get an annoying message that tells you that there is a serious problem with your computer, and that it crashed. It also gives you a (usually toll-free) number that you should call in order to have your system fixed, as well as a warning that you mustn’t turn off your computer because that will lead to a complete data loss. This is a well-known scam designed to rip you hundreds of dollars.

However, there’s a very easy way to fix this, as it’s nothing more than an annoying website. Follow the steps below to see how.

Clean up your PC and Edge

This usually appears when Edge, sets itself to open a URL in a tab by default. This has to be dealt in two stages, first that you should close Edge forcefully, and then run a Adware Scanner to remove traces of this virus from registry and temporary folders.

If by any chance you clicked on anything within the popup, you should run a full MalwareBytes scan (here) on your system, as you may have let the infection spread. You should be careful with this kind of messages, as they might cause you a lot of problems. They’re often cleverly disguised, and non-tech-savvy users might have problems recognizing them, but if you see something like this, follow the steps in the method above to fix it.
