Handling these errors can be quite difficult since there is quite a few information scattered on the Internet which can be hard to find but also hard to judge from the point of success rate. That is why we have gathered several working solutions to help you get rid of the annoying login error codes.

Solution 1: Use a Different Launcher

If you are playing the game using the Steam launcher, it may have occurred that the error is caused by faulty Steam servers which were unable to handle the traffic they were receiving. Faulty servers are something you can’t avoid or influence in any way but there is a way to launch the game using the game’s default launcher.

Note: This solution will only work if you have created an account for Elders Scrolls Online before you downloaded and installed it through Steam as the game launcher will require that you input ESO account and password.

Solution 2: Change the Server on Steam

If the issue is really related to Steam servers, you can always bypass this error and launch the game using a different server by changing the server you are using on Steam, which can be done quite easily by following the set of steps below Steam chooses the server closest to you by default but this can be easily changed in the settings. Downloading from the server closest to you is recommended for optimal performance but if you notice that it’s misbehaving you can choose another one and go back after a while.

Solution 3: Incorrect Password Error

Some ESO players have reported that they were receiving multiple accounts of the incorrect password error and they are unable to login to their accounts because of it. The error seems weird but it has affected both PC and console players equally. The solution to the method is even weirder as you will have to type in your password in a word editor and paste it into the password field for the process to work. Good luck! Note: There were several workarounds by users where changing the password fixed the problem completely as well.

Solution 4: Reboot Your PC or Console

Quite a generic method but it’s worth giving it a shot, especially if you haven’t done that in a while. There are ways for Xbox and PlayStation users which can help their console’s performance simply by restarting since it will clear the cache if done like in the instructions below.

Solution 5: Disable Add-ons for the Game

Since add-ons are designed by other players who play the game, some of them may be badly optimized and they might cause certain issues with the game for users who just happened to install them. Disabling them is easy and you can reload the game immediately to see whether that fixed the problem.

Solution 6: Flush Your DNS

DNS issues are something quite annoying and once they occur, they appear to be almost unsolvable. Luckily, resetting these settings by flushing your DNS is quite easy and it requires running nothing more than a certain command in Command Prompt.

Solution 7: Open the Following Ports on Your Router

Opening the following ports on the router is crucial if you want to establish a proper connection between you and the game’s servers. Sometimes routers block certain ports thinking they are reserved for other processes and the game fails to use it properly. However, you can open them quite easily by following the instructions below:

Solution 8: Launching through other Platforms

Another workaround that worked for numerous people was logging in to ESO using other platforms. If there are issues in launching it through its executable, it might be possible that that specific executable isn’t working properly. Here, what we can do is try is to launch ESO through other platforms or game engines. Close all instances from the task manager and launch Steam. From there, you can navigate to your Library and launch ESO’s instance. If this doesn’t work and you have GeForce installed on your computer, consider launching it from GeForce and see if this fixes the problem.

Solution 9: Wait it out

The login issue has been going on for quite some time where the servers themselves were not responding to the log-in attempts. They are either down for maintenance or are down due to technical difficulties. Here, what you can do is check related forums and see if other users are facing the same problem. If they are, it means that the servers are down. Whenever this happens, the servers are brought back up within a day. What you can do is wait for the issue out and report in the official forums so the developers can take notice as well.
