While seen previously as a competitor for the AirDrop, Google wants to spread the service even more. According to the article, Google may be close to developing the sharing system for systems such as Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS. While the latter does make sense, the first three are a bit surprising. That is, in a good way though. Especially Apple! Google has already brought the service to Chrome OS in its latest builds of the Canary version. While this is the case, it also tells us that it is still in beta version and Google is testing the waters. The thing with Canary versions is that sometimes features never make it to the end product. Right now, it is still too soon to say. While Google has added the option in the settings and flags menu of the OS, turning the toggles on simply doesn’t do anything. Maybe it was an accident, maybe a deliberate attempt to create hype. Only Google knows. One thing is for sure, a service like this would and should be praised. In today’s day and age, integration is the way to go.
